A Blogher of a Good Movie

Thank you to Blogher and Disney for inviting myself and my family to a free screening of the new movie The Secretariat.

At first, we were excited at the prospect of going to the movie, but when the night rolled around, Saint had to be to work early (again). My dad didn't want to go because he always falls asleep during evening movies. And I wasn't feeling it. But because it was a free screening, I guilted every one into going.

We got there and we're ushered into the Press Box area. Can I say, how cool this was? They really should offer this every time because I was sold just hearing them announce before the movie that those seated around me (including me) were press. Just to be included was top notch. We then had to step back out to get food because neither Saint nor I had eaten. How cool is it that we stepped out, ate dinner and came back to our original seats? (snicker)

moving on . . .

Going into the movie, I knew nothing of the horse or the races. I wasn't even sure the trailer looked all that impressive, but I love Disney movies and I always enjoy a free movie. I am also a huge fan of Diane Lane and John Malcovich.

In the end, I was thrilled. It was a fabulous movie. I followed along beautifully. I loved the story. I loved the characters. It will definitely be a movie I purchase.

I would have to say my favorite part of the movie was the way a housewife and mother took control of a manly enterprise and made it excel. It invigorated me. It was simply wonderful the way her family backed her, even if her husband took a bit to come around.

I won't go spoiling the movie for anyone, though as my mother said, we all know what races Secretariat won. Well, everyone but myself anywho.

Oh and just in case you were still unsure, Saint raved about the movie and my father stayed awake the whole time.

5 stars

Absolutely 5 stars for this movie. Loved every second of it and Diane Lane was wonderful! This is definitely one to buy and watch over and over.
