Spin the Plate -
Time has done nothing to heal childhood wounds inflicted more than a dozen years ago, nor fade the memories. Now as an adult, Jo has given up on the human rac
e, men in particular, investing her energies in tattoo artistry and animal rescue. Francis meets Jo during an altercation between Jo and another passenger on the Boston subway. Francis, the brains and speech writer for Charles Davis a Boston philanthropist and billionaire, is painfully lonely as his job requires that he maintain anonymity plus have constant exposure to the shallowness, corruption, and cruelty of humankind. From the moment he lays eyes on Jo, Francis sees beyond her rough exterior to the genuine, passionate, fearless, and beautiful person Jo is and pursues her with unwavering passion. In a compelling story on living as an incest survivor and the how-to's of love, faith, and healing, Jo discovers she is not alone in her fight to leave her past behind and move beyond sorrow into joy.

I know this book has been out for a bit, but I found this on someone else's WishList recently and read the summary and just have to read it SOON.

Delirium - Lauren Oliver
Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

What a fantastic book for young adults. It teaches how your words can affect others for the good and the bad.

Kyle is a mean high schooler who makes fun of girls who aren't up to his standards. He hurts them with his words and embarrasses them with his actions. He belittles them and so much horribly more. He runs into Kendra, a witch who doesn't show herself at first just gives him an opportunity to show who he really is inside. He chooses not to listen and is sentenced to become a beast.

Very quickly Kyle learns how it feels to be scorned, called names and abandoned. Exactly the way he has treated people for a very long time.

I really enjoyed the fact that this was written from a man's perspective. The way he thinks and feels was so different.

This is not a difficult read and I would highly recommend it! A feel good book that has many lessons within.

Summary -

I am a beast.

A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.

You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.

Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.

Big Brother 13 - episode 1

First episode impressions -
Kalia - she is a writer and really good with words, yet said like about a dozen times in two sentences. I am totally jealous of her job though.
Does anyone else think she looks familiar? I can't place her though.

Portia - I am the pretties on the block and everyone is going to hate me off the bat" Uhm, yes that is correct
OMG I love it, It's so pink! (gag)
You are a cocktail waitress and you are worried others will think your life is TOO LUXURIOUS! (gag, wait did I say that already)

Keith - The only religious, virgin has nothing but talk about women and I quote, "thank you God, he knows what I want" --- Really?? A weakness for women?!?!?! Oh puhlease! Talks about her "puppies that dominate".

Adam - I seriously love him!! Loves 90201 and a metal head.

Shelley - how can you not like someone with that accent?

Enter House -
I love "Ok house guests, take a look around you" because that is when everyone gets the bitchy, I am a fighter look.

Why, why oh why do they open the door and immediately start screaming like four year olds??

New Season Twist -
Play in pairs
Pairs are both safe as HOH
When on block, you both are on the block and campaign against each other

Teams -
Adam and Dominic
Cassie and Shelley
Portia and Keith
Kalia and Lawon

Ahem, I totally vote for Cassie and Shelly. Seem like the two strongest players at this point, but who knows??

New Additions to the house -
Rachel and Brendon (Brenchel) - ugh, her voice annoys me
AHHHHHHHHHHH Jeff and Jordan!!!!! I love them!!!!
Oh dear god, Dick Danielle and I thought Rachel's voice as my least favorite sound, but he can wreak havoc!! She's quiet because they haven't spoken in three years. Wow, I like her.

Two previous house winners, Jordan and Dick.

Jordan - you're awesome! "Dick makes me feel like chopped liver and I hate chopped liver."

Newbies VS Veterans

In Big Brother you can't trust anybody!!

1st HOH -
Rachel (and Brandon is safe too)
I love her victory speech, except that she didn't win her Big Brother!!

Twist #2 -
Big Brother Gold Key guarantees you a spot in the top ten. No participation in any competeitions for eviction, but can still vote for eviction.

Wordless Wednesday - Izabel

Finally got a pic of Izabel when she is grooming. She has a habit of sitting on her butt with one front leg in the middle of her two back legs. Sadly, she hates the camera and refuses to let me catch her. Hence the really bad lighting and slightly out of focus pic.
Wordless Wednesday

Tune In Tuesday

A weekly feature hosted by me that showcases music - my other passion in life besides books! Each week I will post a new or old song in hopes to gain more interest. Help me in spreading the love of music!

Feel free to get involved with this feature by linking up at the bottom of this post, thanks!

This is my FIRST TIME doing TUNE IN TUESDAY, but I am such a fan of songs and music that I just wanted to play. Plus I am trying to get ahead on my reading and reviews, so this a good way to do so.

The song I seem to play over and over and over again is this one . . .

Rolling Stones, Beast of Burden
(featured in movie, The Family Man with Tia Leone and Nicolas Cage)

Attention Big Brother Fans

The next season of Big Brother starts on July 7th!!!!!

Yes, I am one of those addicted to the show, the chaos, the crying and nail biting, the yelling and instigating, the gross and tough games they play, the endless amount of food challenges SLOP, the showmances and OH SO MUCH MORE.

I am a total reality tv junkie, but this one takes the cake for me.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
People I like so far -
Cassi (lol, she looks like a bond girl and I always root for the supposedly nice girl)
Shelly (sounds like a tough cookie, seems smart and has the fun accent)

Unsure of -
Kalia (I love people who honestly admit they will lie and cheat to win)
Adam (looks can be deceiving)

Not Thrilled with -
Keith (he sounds a little nerdy)
Lawson (seems too quiet for this show)

Drama -
Porsche (blond, money girl trying to play it cool - she left two cell phone behind?)

Annoyed with -
Dominic (the pretty boy who is going to use every opportunity to show his body and just wants people to like him, ugh)

I am pretty excited to see who the returning house guests are and hoping and praying they aren't annoying, but that does make for pulling people out of their comfort zones, so . . . Dynamic Duos should be fun too because no one lasts in the game unless they are secret alliances.

Take a tour of the new house here

IMM - In My Mailbox

This week my mailbox came from my wallet as I didn't really receive anything, but I was in desperate need of books that did not contain any serial killers, crazy psychos or other things that make me stay awake at night. Oddly enough, most of the books on my TBR list are mysteries, thrillers or other such things.

ARC - (but on my shelf waiting to be read)
