You're the one that I want (books)

When We Were the Kennedys by Monica Wood

I just finished reading the book, Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath by Mimi Alford about her intimate relationship with President Kennedy. It was so wonderfully heartfelt while keeping with her naivety with all the going-ons around her. The history brought back memories and was so vivid when she detailed where she was when things were happening. That book really made me want to read more about the Kennedy's, the presidency and history. Then I saw this book, When We Were the Kennedys by Monica Wood and I can't wait to read this.

I absolutely loved the first book in the Lila series by Sarah Anderson. It gave such a fun spin on the fantasy and adventure teen books floating around right now. Lila was always a step ahead of her family when it came to her life, then she ends up on her brother's doorstep across the country from her dad where she's been staying since they moved. She immediately comes intrenched in all the choas of her brother's life that has been a secret for years. Her secret love for her brother's best friend - what a great love story! I was on the edge of my seat through the entire book.

Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols
I am a fan of Jennifer Echols and this cover is stunning! I just picked up the arc and it is sitting on my nightstand waiting to be read, but I have a few books in line in front. Grrr!!

What are waiting to read?!?!?

I finally did it . . .

After almost two years of not paying for television, I signed up for Netflix free one month trial period. Yes, I have ulterior motives, but already I miss the novelty of sitting down and watching what I expect to see on tv, not some random crap that receptions through.

I have gotten to the Fifth Season of Lost and can't seem to find it anywhere without paying full price for it. Ugh, nope don't want to do that. And being sick makes me just want to lay in bed. Since my head hurts too much to read, I am thinking tv sounds good right now. And movies, instantly? Damn it.

I will cancel it before 30 days . . . .

I will cancel it before 30 days . . . .

For those of you who are Lost fans, why the hell didn't they pull the inflatable boats out of the plane and float to another island or rescue boat? (or did I miss this answer?)

I cannot believe that after all that time on the island, they finally get off and have to lie to protect the others?!?!?!?!? What a crazy story so far, and it keeps getting better. Every time I think something is too far, too much to believe I get sucked right back in.

Do you pay the $8 (or more) to watch Netflix? I am curious to see the response. I just haven't watched enough tv to justify paying for it. I maybe watch 30 minutes to an hour of the Today's show in the morning, but other than that. I generally read or try to watch online.

Luv you, Katy Perry

Just got out of the movie, Katy Perry, Part of Me in 3D.

Each time I mentioned I wanted to see this movie, I got eye rolls, sighing or worse, "just tell us you are really going to see Magic Mike."

BUT  . . .

It was so much better than I thought it would be and I was really excited to see it. That rarely happens. Usually when I am excited to see a movie, it a disappointment because I hype it up in my mind so much more.

Katy Perry is so wonderfully unique that I can't help but love her. She is girl next door pretty, fun. kind and so creative. The movie gave light to her amazing work ethic, her love of family and friends and her never ending beautiful heart.

I laughed. I cried. I felt inspired and I saw how other girls, young and old, see her as a woman superstar paving the way for us to finally come out and be ourselves. She embraces who she is even, if her parents don't live that way. She doesn't disgrace them or negate them either. They live in a (semi) harmony. Good for them. We should all be so lucky. I hope to b able to pass that feeling of embracing yourself for whoever you will be to my kids one day.

Her relationship with Russell Brand was part of the movie, which I was unaware of. I knew she was married to him, but didn't realize he was a point of topic. I could not believe the amount of effort she put in to her relationship. Now it is only one sided, from the movie, but she flew all over to see him and not once did he come see her. Amazing. I felt for her. Doing everything you possible can, sometimes just isn't enough. But she worked through and kept her head high. She amazes me.

Her music is spectacular too! I love many of her songs and to know that five songs on one record were #1 hits which is more than any other singer (other than Michael Jackson) is unbelievable. Good for her. To know she went through 3 record labels, no one knowing what to do with her til she ended at Capital.

You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your blog. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either. Just make sure you link up (with her at Airing My Dirty Laundry) and that the post you link up is a Hey, It's Okay Post.

***************************************************************

To be really excited to start watching Big Brother. Enough so that I actually tried talking my boss in to not scheduling me for closing shifts on those nights. (no it didn't work)

To be loving the summer months, even though during the day it is a bit hot in the house and out.

To realize I do love to wear dresses at work. WOW, imagine that. They are cooler, lighter and easier to deal with.

To know that even though I really, really, really want a dog, now is just not the time.

To want to rent an RV and visit some really cool USA travel destinations. Suggestions???

To be looking forward to seeing Katy Perry's movie Part Of Me in 3D. Oh yeah!! (yes, I know I am probably going alone)

To be jumping from one book to another, not really identifying with any of them.

BUT WAIT, DEBORAH HARKNESS'S SERIES
BOOK 2 IS COMING OUT JULY 9th!!!
The second book in the All Soul's Trilogy
is called Shadow of Night.
And yes, if you are wondering what
I will be doing July 10th and 11th.
Well, that is it.

Please explain wth. . .

I could tell I was completely and utterly tired. Way too tired to run any errands. Yet, I still did.

I did the best I could to keep pushing myself back to the front of the store so I could leave, instead of wander aimlessly around the store til I keeled over from tiredness. (you know how that is right? I always wander forever in stores when my brain is done)

Finally, made it to the cashier.

Right next to my credit card is a coupon for 5% off. As I pull out my card, she sees the coupon.

Cashier: Did you want me to scan that?
Me: No, it's only a $6 purchase. I don't want to use it today.
C: But you can use it all day.
Me: No I won't be back today. (it's after 7pm)
C: But you can use it over and over again all day.
Me: I really won't be back today.
C: But you can continuously use it in a 24 hr period.
Me: (pause and breath) I really will not be back today or tomorrow, so no.
C: But . . . and she walks away making noises like I am stupid.

Is it me? Really? Is it me?

WHY in blazes would I use a 5% coupon on a $6 purchase? 30 cents!! I completely understand I can use it all day long, but a) the day is already over and b) my next day will be insane at work and I am sure I will not be coming back. What kind of sense does that make to the cashier? What am I missing?

I personally would rather wait til my purchase is much higher to use it anyhow.
