five senses friday - the puzzle

See Abby for information on participating in Five Senses Friday.

Tasting:
The soft, moist pumpkin bread Saint (see the guy in the hat?) made which is so good because the outside is sweet (unlike most breads) and the inside always melts in my mouth

Feeling:
frustrated because I wasn't very helpful on this puzzle, but my cup runnith over with love for these two people in my life (Bugley, my 13 yr old niece is behind the camera); I pray I will never forget how truly wonderful it is to feel so amazingly free and happy like this with the knowledge that I never knew life could be like this

Hearing:
the sounds of the tv show Malcomn in the middle in the background; they were laughing so hard I couldn't bring myself to ask them to turn off the tv

Smelling:
the ever present smell of defeat of Saint being able to put together a puzzle twice as fast as I can (yes, we're a bit competitive)

Seeing:
what an lazy afternoon could be like in 10 years should we actually have a future together

no receipt return

Someone explain this one to me, k?

I had a guy in tonight who returned three shirts from 2007. He did not have a receipt, but he wanted full price for them because the tags were still on AND he wanted cash back.

?????

I have been in retail for over 12 years. I don't know anyone who will do this. Not one store.

If you don't have a receipt, a store doesn't know
a) how much you paid for it
b) how you paid for it

He threw a fit. He could not fathom that we would not do this for him. He was going to have to call corporate.

Seriously??

My favorite is when he said that he could go to (insert big department store name) and they would do exactly what he wanted. THEY would take care of him.

Well, then shit he should go there.

Honestly, not even Walmart will give a return purchase at the original value and in cash and they're the kings of returns. You can return a dead plant (that you killed), the pot and the planting soil (after potted) AND if you have a receipt they will give you cash back.

But no receipt = no refund.

We are at least a retail shop that has a computer system that can tell exactly what a piece is selling for right now. Obviously, we are lucky we have outlets or we wouldn't be able to give anything past the season like most stores. But the outlets allow us to sell our clothes longer - and therefore give return amounts longer.

I am just completely confused at where people get their ideas from.

What's cool is I can actually have the author, Pam Jenoff, talk to our bookclub. So we'll see.

Here's the description -

Almost Home

Ten years ago, American Jordan Weiss's idyllic experience as a graduate student and coxswain at Cambridge was shattered when her boyfriend and fellow crewmember, Jared Short, drowned in the River Cam the night before the biggest race of the year. Since that time, Jordan, a State Department intelligence officer, has traveled the world on dangerous assignments but has managed to avoid returning to face her painful memories in England.

five senses friday - monsoon

Visiting abby try again blog, I love her five senses friday. It is refreshing and beautiful. Thought I'd give it a try.

I've had a couple of really crappy past couple of days, so I plan on focusing on the main wonderful thing I experienced this week.

For (possibly) one more week we received really incredible low temperatures (for us) with rain and storms one last time before the god awful summer heat.

Seeing:
the new curtains I put up this past weekend billowing, swirling and whipping around

Hearing:
the clink of the blinds hitting the window sill

Feeling:
the cool breeze blowing around me, grazing my skin, the moistness of a storm to come

Tasting:
?

Smelling:
the heaviness of the rain to come and the lightness of the wind
